Commercial and Residential Buildings Only

When you’re spending your hard-earned money on window tinting for your Houston home, quality matters. And it’s not just the quality of the film you install or the team that installs it that matters, but it’s also the warranty that stands behind the product you choose.

So before you select your window film installer, here’s what you should know about the three most common types of window film manufacturer warranties that professional installers offer and why those warranties matter.

Warranties Against Seal Failures

Window film installation voids any warranty you have on the window itself, and that might sound like a dealbreaker. But it’s precisely why window film manufacturers offer backup warranties, including warranties against the seal failing (one of the most common reasons windows without tint fail). Most reputable film manufacturers offer a three-year seal failure warranty. Other film manufacturers take over the window manufacturer’s warranty at just a minimal cost to the homeowner to ensure no coverage is actually lost.

Warranties on the Film

Commonly, a lifetime warranty on the film itself will cover film deterioration or adhesive failure (which results in bubbling, peeling, and distorting). So if a compromised old film needs to be replaced with new, this warranty covers that replacement.

Warranties Against Glass Breakage Due to Thermal Shock

Windows with film tend to absorb more heat than do plain windows, and it’s possible (although rare) that this added heat could cause the window pane to crack. In most cases, these thermal shock breakages are the result of a flaw in the glass that makes the glass more vulnerable to temperature fluctuations. To cover this risk, film manufacturers offer a five-year warranty against these failures.

Why The Right Installer Matters

When you’re looking to have window film installed in your home or office, you might think all companies are the same. After all, it’s the film manufacturer’s warranty that matters in the end, right?

Unfortunately, it’s not so easy. Many dealers mismatch film to glass, causing window breakage. But Fine Line Glass Tinting never installs the wrong film on your windows. Instead, we use the manufacturer’s supplied film-to-glass chart for compatibility and to ensure we always use the right product.

Even if installers use the right film, if they don’t install it properly, the manufacturer won’t honor the warranty. But at Fine Line Glass Tinting, we don’t hire installers. Instead, we hire good-quality people and train them to be the quality craftsmen we require for all our installations.
